Avoiding the modern plague, locally.

February 8, 2019

Don't be afraid of silence. Science is telling us it's good for us. Below are some spaces you can get your quite time in and around the Berwick area.

A 2011 World Health Organization report called noise pollution a “modern plague,” concluding that “there is overwhelming evidence that exposure to environmental noise has adverse effects on the health of the population.”

There is noise everywhere. Externally and Internally. And it can be really hard to escape. Hopefully, if you're reading this, you've noticed this as well, and are willing to do something about it. Let us help.

At Float Berwick, we're all about health and well being and understand and respect the beauty of silence. We've spent some time searching around our local area seeking out like minded businesses.

Here is what we've found:

Powerhouse Yoga. Conveniently located upstairs from us.

The space created here is amazing. It's so welcoming. From the rain forest wall, the immaculate toilet and shower facilities to the warmth (literally), the place boasts happy positive energy. And once in a class, it's damn quiet.

Head to a balance class. There is one on every day. On week nights they are either at 5.15pm or 6.30pm, perfect to get to after work. This is where you disconnect with everyone and everything and reconnect with yourself. Enjoy an hour of silent bliss.

MoMo Chinese Medicine. Located in Cranbourne but the Berwick side of.

Do yourself a favour and book in to see Melanie. Mel is such a delight to work with. Her knowledge and professionalism is above and beyond. Acupuncture sessions are so peaceful and the benefits priceless. Our values at Float Berwick really align with MoMo and our treatments aim to achieve the same thing; to allow the sympathetic nervous system to rest, to restore balance internally, all using natural modalities. Hours are flexible and you'll get plenty to quiet you time!

Float therapy is the ultimate weapon against this modern plague. Removing external stimulus such as light, noise and sensation of touch, allows the mind and body to be in complete silence, for a whole hour! And whilst a whole hour might seem like a long time, it's actually not. Compared to the endless hours both mind and body are working at full steam, one hour is nothing!

For those of you yet to try float therapy with us at Float Berwick, please please please do! And for those of you who really aren't keen on giving floating a go, try yoga or an acupuncture session with our local buddies.
